Getting started

Installation

• Download the .dmg and open it.
• Drag onAir to Applications.
• Launch from Applications or Spotlight.
• Follow the onboarding flow for permissions.

Permissions needed

• Accessibility: global shortcuts and paste automation.
• Camera: camera mirror.
• Microphone: mic level overlay.

Review anytime in System Settings → Privacy & Security, or Settings → Permissions.

Keyboard shortcuts

• ⌃⌘M: Toggle camera mirror
• ⌃⌘D: Toggle desktop hider
• ⌃⌘C: Open clipboard history

Clipboard history

How does capture work?

onAir polls the pasteboard every ~0.45s. When the change count increases, it captures, filters, and stores the content locally.

Does it capture passwords?

No. Skips ConcealedType and TransientType from password managers. Also skips auto-generated and self-generated types.

Can I pause capture?

Yes. Toggle "Pause clipboard" from the menu bar or Settings.

How many items?

200 unpinned, plus any pinned items. Oldest unpinned items trimmed automatically.

Supported types?

• Text, links, images (PNG), files, hex colors

Camera mirror

Mirror window is blank

• Check camera permission in System Settings.
• Try a different camera in Settings → Mirror.
• Click "Refresh devices" to re-scan.
• For Continuity Camera: ensure iPhone is unlocked and nearby.

Change shape?

Right-click the mirror window or go to Settings → Mirror. Choose Rounded, Circle, or Square.

Hide from screen sharing?

Enable "Exclude from screen share" in Settings or the context menu. Window won't appear in Zoom, Teams, or Screen Share.

Desktop hider

Needs screen recording permission?

No. Uses window-level overlays above desktop icons. No screen recording required.

Covers not on second display?

Toggle off and on after connecting a display. Covers reassert automatically on display reconfiguration or Space changes.

Licensing & trial

How does the trial work?

Starts on first launch. Lasts 3 calendar days. Full access. No card required.

Activate a license key

• Open Settings from the menu bar.
• Go to the About tab.
• Enter your key and click Activate.

Can't verify license?

If offline, onAir enters a grace period with full features. If the server rejects the key, the app locks until you enter a valid key.

Transfer to another Mac?

Deactivate on the current Mac (Settings → About → Deactivate), then activate on the new one. Email us if you lost access.

Troubleshooting

Shortcuts not working?

• Check Accessibility permission.
• Check for conflicting shortcuts in other apps.
• Try quitting and relaunching onAir.

Paste copies but doesn't paste?

Paste automation needs Accessibility to synthesize ⌘V. Grant the permission and retry.

Not in menu bar?

macOS may hide items if the menu bar is full. Close other menu bar apps or check Activity Monitor.
